Nigeria Visa Requirements

Before You Begin:

• Maximum Stay is 90 Days
• Visa must be obtained prior to travel to Nigeria
• U.S. Passport holders must obtain a transit visa for layovers or airport connections

Step 1: Gather the items listed below

Your Valid Passport

• Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the last possible day in Nigeria

Nigerian Visa Application

All Nigerian visa applications must be completed AND paid for online. Be sure to follow the detailed instructions provided online. Your application must be properly submitted via the consulate's website

• Complete the Nigerian Visa Application Online. Nigeria Visa Application
• After submitting your visa application, please COPY DOWN Application ID and Reference Number. You need to send Swift Passport those numbers to us along with your other documents.
• You will be asked to pay the appropriate Consular fee by credit card online for $112 via the IPAY4ME system. You will receive your payment receipt via email-Please print out the IPay4Me receipt. It is REQUIRED that you send this receipt with your other documents.
• The embassy charges an additional $30 processing fee per application, which needs to be submitted with the application material to the Embassy. There is an additional $85 fee if the application is needed on a rush basis.

2 Passport Photos

Photo Requirements: Photos must have been taken in the last 6 months, be 2 inches by 2 inches in size, and have white background with no patterns or background objects visible. Photo must be in color and be free of glare. Ears should be visible, and you must be facing forward. Dark glasses, headbands, and spaghetti straps are not permitted. Feel free to smile!

Option 1: email a photo to Swift Passport Services service@swiftpassport.com using the following guidelines. Swift Passport will size and print your passport photos for a nominal fee of $15.

• Photo file needs to be attached to the email as a .jpeg file.  Other file formats cannot be properly formatted
• Have someone else take the picture of you; please do not send pictures you take of yourself.
• Photos need to be taken with a digital camera, phone camera photos will be of insufficient quality
• Please do not attempt to resize or format the photo in any way

Option 2: Obtain 2 passport photos from a passport photo service (Walgreens, CVS, FedEx, etc.). Include these photos in your package to Swift Passport Services.

Proof of Departure

Please provide ONE of the following

• A photo-copy of your Round-Trip airline ticket or a copy of your itinerary from your travel agent, airline, or online booking company
• If for some reason you cannot provide one of the above, please contact Swift Passport Services for further instruction.

Hotel Reservation or a Letter of Invitation to visit Nigeria

• You must provide a copy of your hotel reservations confirming your stay in Nigeria OR
• a letter from your Host stating their name, address(es), and legal status (i.e. passport, residence card) in Nigeria

Additional Materials Required for Minors

• Copy of birth certificate of child
• Signed, notarized letter of consent by both parents.
• Copies of both parents passports (bio date page)

Additional Items Required if Traveling for Religious Purpose

• Require pre-approval from the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Nigeria

Additional Materials Required for Business Travelers

A Business Letter of Responsibility Must accompany your application material

• The letter must be addressed to the Embassy of Nigeria
• It must explain the nature or purpose of business and the duration of the proposed business trip. In the letter you need to state the names as well as the addresses of individuals, departments and organizations in Nigeria you intend to visit
• It must be on company letterhead and signed by someone at your company other than yourself; original copies are required - faxed or emailed business letters will not be accepted by the embassy

There are 4 fees associated with this service that can be paid with all major credit cards or a money order

• Shipping: starting at $15. Swift Passport Services offers inbound and outbound shipping upon request

If you would like Swift passport to print your photos, there is a $15 fee as mentioned above

Step 2: Submit Your Order

• Option 3: Click here to print an order form. Complete the form and send it to Swift Passport with your visa application materials.

Step 3: Ship all Application Materials to Swift Passport Services

We highly recommend that you use FedEx to ship your application materials, as they are the most reliable shipping service and will provide you with accurate tracking information. Please ship your application materials to our Chicago location unless you have discussed an alternate location with our passport and visa specialists. Swift Passport Services can email you a pre-paid FedEx airbill to use for inbound shipping upon request. Please call or email us if you would like us to email you a pre-paid airbill. Applications will be submitted the day they are received if they are sent PRIORITY overnight.

It is very important that you use FedEx PRIORITY overnight with NO SIGNATURE REQUIRED for this service.
