Summer is officially upon is, and that means that it‘s time to plan your next big vacation. If you’re looking for great summer international travel destinations, you can never go wrong with classics like Paris, Rome, or London. But if you go to some of the more well-known travel destinations, you’re likely to run into massive crowds at every last tourist stop. So while you search for hot summer travel spots, here are a few places off the beaten track that you might want to consider.
The island of Bali has some of the friendliest people that you’ll meet anywhere in the world. With pristine beaches and luxurious health spas, it’s the perfect spot to take a relaxing “treat yourself” vacation.
Home of the legendary Angkor Wat, you could spend weeks wandering around the ancient temple. Cambodia is also home to plenty of other amazing temples, and it’s the perfect jumping off point for a Southeast Asian vacation through Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand. Just make sure that you give yourself plenty of time in each destination, ideally a week or more, to really make the most of this vacation. Getting there will be the most expensive part of your whole trip.
This capital city in Tanzania is another destination that is much more expensive to get to than to spend time in. The main draw of Arusha is the amazing African safaris that can be embarked on just a few hours outside of the city. You’ll see more lions, elephants, gazelles, and wildebeests than you could possibly imagine. Arusha is also a great launch point for a trek up Kilimanjaro.
- Cape Town
Easily one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Cape Town is nestled between gorgeous mountains and romantic beaches. There are plenty of beach-front bars, lots of culture, and you can go swimming with penguins! From Cape Town, you can also go on a cage diving expedition to see Great White Sharks, or you can stay on land and hike, bike, or feast to your heart’s content.
If you want to stay a bit closer to home, Montreal is one of the most vibrant cities in the western hemisphere. The city just celebrated its 375th anniversary, and it’s easy to see why it has been around for so long. From a bustling nightlife to unforgettable architecture, Montreal easily earns its title as the Paris of North America.
