  • Passport Photo Requirement Changes

Effective Nov 1, 2016, The US Passport Agency is no longer allowing you to wear glasses in your passport photo. We are unsure at this time if the new rule will be strictly enforced, however to prevent delays and rejections, your best bet is to just refrain from wearing glasses in you photo.

Most of our clients use our service for passport photo printing. For Swift to print you a photo, all you have to do is email a photo of yourself standing against a white wall to photos@swiftpassport.com. Please include your name and contact information in that email. It is important that there are no shadows, and the picture is high resolution. There should be no interrupted patterns in the background. For example, if you are standing against a white door, the picture will not work if we can see the door jam. One of the easiest ways to do this, is to have a friend take a photo of you with their iPhone. Here is an example of a perfect iPhone photo that we can easily use. Notice that it is unformatted- it’s easiest for us if you let us format the photo rather than trying to crop and size on your own.

Often times our clients already have a passport photo, and they take a photo or send a scan of that passport photo. We are unable to print a photo in that format, the resolution is not high enough. You can read about passport photo formatting guidelines on our Photo Image Guidelines Page and get even more tips on our How to Take a Stellar Passport Photo blog post. If you still have questions, call or email anytime so we can get you pointed in the right direction.
