Visa Updates You Should Be Aware of

The world of visa applications is a little bit like the Kardashians: there’s always drama.

Passports and VisasWhile China has made things easier on Americans by issuing a 10 year multiple entry visa, India and Brazil have been making things a bit harder on Americans lately. Here’s a recap of what you need to know if you’re planning on visiting any of these three countries in the near future.

    China Visas

China now offers a 10 year multiple entry China Visa for both business and tourist travel. The country is also offering a five year multiple entry student visa. This is great news and should lead to economic growth between our two countries. Nothing has changed in the application process except that if you apply for a one-year visa, the Chinese consulate may decide to give you a 10 year visa instead. You can specifically request the 10 year visa by writing “10 year multiple entry” on the “Other” line of your application form, but there’s no guarantee that China will give it to you. Ultimately, the decision of who gets 10 year visas is in China’s hands.

In order to obtain a 10 year visa, you need at least one year left on your valid US passport. If your passport expires while your visa is still valid, you can still use the visa as long as you bring your new passport and your expired passport with you every time you visit China.

    India Visas

The Chicago jurisdiction of the Indian consulate is having some issues with their business visas. If you need a expedited business visa to India, please contact us before beginning your application process. We can talk you through the issues that that office is having and help ensure that your application process runs as smoothly and quickly as possible.

People who live in the following states fall under the Chicago India consulate’s jurisdiction: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Again, if you live in any of these states and need an India business visa, please call us at 877-917-9438 before you do anything else.

    Brazil Visas

The Brazil consulate has added an annoying little step to their application process. You now need to upload your entire visa application to their website. The process can be quite tedious, and the website is finicky. If you get stuck while trying to upload your application, give us a call. We can upload your application for you and ensure that the Brazilian consulate receives everything they need for your visa application. We promise that working with us will be a lot less frustrating than trying to get Brazil’s website to run the way you want it to.

And just as a reminder, we offer five to seven day expedited Brazil Visa service.  That’s a faster turnaround time than anyone else in the country!
