The Republic of Angola is a west-coast country of south-central Africa. It is bordered by the countries of Namibia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Zambia. It also borders the Atlantic Ocean to the west. Many ethnic groups, tribes, and kingdoms have called Angola home. The capital of Angola is Luanda, which is also the largest city in the country. Portuguese is the official language. It is among the fastest-growing economies in the world, boasting vast mineral and petroleum reserves. That said, Angola has one of the lowest life expectancies in the world and the standard of living is low for the majority of the population.
