Can I Apply Online For A New Passport?

While you may start the process online through Swift, you will need to do a few things offline, such as gather and ship your required documents.

Will I Have to Appear in Person?

Yes, this will be part of the process for a new or first time passport.  The reason you must do this is to protect your identity and confirm you are who you say you are.  You will need to appear in person in front of a US Passport Acceptance Agent.

Get Started with Your New or First Time Passport: 4 Easy Steps

Click the Order Now button and then choose New or First Time Passport from the drop down menu.  From there, you will be asked to enter in basic personal information such as your name, date of birth, and your departure date.  You will then have the option to check out or add more travelers to your order.

When you apply for a new or first time passport, you will be required to ship certain documents such as:

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship
  • Copy of a valid photo I.D.
  • Passport photo
  • A completed DS-11 passport application

After you submit your order, Swift will provide you will a comprehensive list of documents.  We’ll also guide you through each step, ensuring your documents are correct so your order can be processed in a timely manner.

Once you have gathered the required documents, you will need to take them to a post office or county/city clerk to get the application executed by a “passport acceptance agent.” To find a Passport Acceptance Agent near you, just enter in your zip code.  Swift suggests calling ahead to the Acceptance Facility to confirm that the details on this website are accurate.

To complete your order, you must ship your documents to Swift.  Please use FedEx or UPS to ship your application materials. To avoid delays, please do not use the United Stated Postal Service (USPS).
