Renewing Your Passport: What You Should Know

I saw there is an online renewal option now, can I just do that?

Yes, you can. However, that is outside of Swift and when you choose this route, standard processing will be your only option.  You will not be allowed to expedited your passport.

Can I renew my passport that is over 5 years old?

Your passport must be valid for 5 years for us to renew it.  If it is older than that, you will need to apply for a new passport.

Can I travel with a damaged passport?

The short answer is no. If you try to travel with a passport that is damaged, you will be turned away by customs. Therefore, we suggest replacing your passport well before you plan to travel.

Will I Need to Send In My Current Passport?

Yes, you will ship your current passport to Swift and, after your order is completed, we will ship it back to you.

Can I just send in the application form I got from post office and filled out by hand?

No, we cannot process your passport order if you do this.

I don’t have travel plans anytime soon, I just want to renew my passport.  Can I do that?

You can renew your passport using standard processing, even if you don’t have upcoming travel.  However, if you need an expedited passport, we will need a travel itinerary to process your order.

Why Use Swift?

Additionally, if you make mistakes or fail to submit required paperwork, there is even more time and
headaches involved. The Swift team helps you avoid errors and costly mistakes. We hold your hand
every step of the way and do everything we can to ensure that your passport arrives on time. Most of
our customers come back to us because they know we will save them from a great deal of stress and
frustration.
