How Much Does It Cost To Get an E-Visa to India?

The application fee for US passport holders is $175.00. Visas may also be expedited for an additional cost. Below are the Consulate Fees for the India e-visa. Swift Fees are in addition to this fee.

India ETA Eligibility

  • India ETA visas are available to international travelers whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation, sight seeing, casual visit to meet friends or relatives, short duration medical treatment or casual business visit.
  • Your passport should have at least six months validity from the date of arrival in India. The passport should have at least two blank pages for stamping by the Immigration Officer.
  • International travelers should have a return ticket or onward journey ticket with sufficient money to spend during their stay in India.
  • International travelers that have a Pakistani passport or Pakistani origin may apply for regular visa.
  • Not available to Diplomatic/Official Passport Holders or Laissez-passer travel document holders.
  • Not available to individuals endorsed on Parent’s/Spouse’s Passport i.e. each individual should have a separate passport.
  • Not available to International Travel Document Holders.

Common India E-Visa Questions

In order to get an India e-Visa, you will need to fill out an online application with the requested information, including a photo of your passport information page and a photo of yourself. After you fill out your application, you’ll need to pay the application fee of $75 during the checkout process on Swift’s website. Once your application is processed, you will have your e-Visa emailed to you. 

 

It’s required that you apply within 120 days of your planned date of entry into India. You should apply no later than 4 days before you plan on leaving to India in case your application runs into any unexpected delays. 

An India e-Visa is typically issued in 3 business days.

There are three main types of India electronic visas available:

  • e-Tourist Visa
  • e-Business Visa
  • e-Medical Visa

The application fee for an India e-Visa is $175 for travelers based in the United States. On top of the application fee, there are other common e-Visa fees depending on the type of e-Visa you’re applying for. There are extra costs associated with obtaining an India e-Visa if you would like to have your e-Visa expedited. 

Some common e-Visa fees include a $175 application fee and an India government fee.

There are three main types of e-Visas in India with each having varying validity times as listed below:

  • An e-Tourist Visa is valid for one year after the issued date
  • An e-Business Visa is valid for one year after the issued date
  • An e-Medical Visa is valid for 60 days after the issued date

In short, no. It’s required that all foreign travelers that want to visit India must obtain a visa in advance. If you try and show up in India without your visa or passport, it’s likely that you’ll be sent right back to where you came from. 

No it is not possible to obtain an e-Visa in 24 hours. 

A 5-year India e-Visa costs $82 plus a $75 Swift processing fee.

To be safe, you should make sure that you have all of the necessary documents in hand when you arrive in India, including but not limited to, a printed e-Visa, a return ticket, and your passport. If you arrive in India without a visa or passport, you risk being immediately deported.
