Congo Embassy Information
Congo, also referred to as the Republic of the Congo, is a country in Central Africa along the western coast. It is bordered by Gabon, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Angolan exclave of Cabinda, and the Atlantic Ocean. The sovereign state of Congo has held multi-party elections since 1992; however, the democratically elected government faced instability during the 1997 Republic of the Congo Civil War and was ousted. President Denis Sassou Nguesso has ruled for 35 of the past 40 years. Congo has an economy that is largely dependent on oil and has faced slowed economic growth since oil prices have dropped since 2015.
