Guidelines for Completing the NEW China Online Visa Application (COVA)
- The following are imperative for application to be accepted:
- Applicants name and date of birth must be exactly as they appear in passport.
- Correct Visa type must be selected
- The proper consulate MUST be selected. Reference for proper China jurisdictions
- Passport type must be marked ordinary
- ALL SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS MUST BE UPLOADED to the online application system. The Chinese Consulate will review the uploaded documents and either approve or reject them for submission in person at the designated consulate/embassy. Once the application is approved in the system and you have sent all required documents to Swift, we will submit the documents to the consulate on your behalf.

Important Updates – Effective September 30, 2025:
- ALL SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS MUST BE UPLOADED to the online application system. The Chinese Consulate will review and either approve or reject the documents for processing.
- Once the consulate or Embassy approves your application, Swift will submit your passport for processing of your visa application.
- Please answer each question accurately. Questions marked (*) are mandatory. You have to answer all the mandatory questions on the page before proceeding to the next step.
- It is recommended to submit your application at least one month before your planned travel date, but no earlier than 90 days in advance. Processing times may be longer in special cases.
