TRAVELING TO COSTA RICA?

Costa Rica Visa Requirements

US citizens with a valid passport do not need a visa to travel to Costa Rica for business or tourism.

Please note, Swift does not offer visa services to this country and is unfortunately unable to help you with this destination.  However, we have included some basic information on travel requirements below:

US Passport Holder Travel Requirements

US citizens must have a valid passport with at least 1 blank visa page to enter Costa Rica, no visa is required. Costa Rican authorities are permitted to require proof of the following items upon arrival, however this is unlikely to be requested:

·      Round-trip ticket or proof of onward travel to another country.

·      Financial ability: proof that you have $100/month to cover expenses while in Costa Rica.

·      Proof of valid yellow fever vaccination prior to entry.

Costa Rican authorities may permit US citizen tourists to stay up to ninety (90) days, but may grant shorter validities on a case by case basis.  To extend the period you are given, you must submit an application for an extension to the Office of Temporary Permits in the Costa Rican Department of Immigration. Extension requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

There is a $29 fee that must be paid to leave Costa Rica.

Visit the Embassy of Costa Rica in the United States website for the most current visa information, and please cross reference the US State Department website for recent travel requirement changes and more detailed information.
