US citizens with a valid passport may need a visa to travel to Maldives.

US Passport Holder Travel Requirements
You must have a valid passport with at least 1 blank visa page, a return ticket, and proof of funds. Instead of a visa, a visitor permit will be issued upon entry. Please reference the US Department of State website for recent travel requirement changes and more detailed information. Specific inquiries should be addressed to Maldives High Commission in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
