New or First Time US Passport
Use the new or first time US passport instructions if you meet the following criteria:
- You are applying for your first U.S. passport -or-
- Your previous U.S. passport was issued when you were under age 16 -or-
- Your previous U.S. passport was issued more than 15 years ago -or-
- Your previous passport was valid for 5 years only
US Passport
Renewal Service
Use the US passport renewal instructions if you meet the following criteria:
- Your passport expired less than 5 years ago or it is still valid
- Your passport is in good condition and is in your possession
- Your passport was issued in the U.S.A.
- You were age 16 or older when your passport was issued, and it was valid for 10 years

Passport
Use the child US passport instructions if you meet the following criteria:
- Applicant is a U.S. citizens age 0-15
Lost
Passport
Use the lost US passport instructions if you meet the following criteria:
- You lost your U.S. passport that is still valid, -or-
- You lost your U.S. passport and it expired less than 5 years ago
- You lost your U.S. passport and are unsure if it expired less than 5 years ago
Add Visa Pages
to Passport
Use the add visa pages instructions if you meet the following criteria:
- Your passport is valid for at least 1 year
- Your passport is in good condition
- You need additional visa pages to travel
- Your name has not changed since your current valid passport was issued
Second
Passport
Use the second US passport instructions if you meet the following criteria:
- You can submit your most recent, valid, undamaged passport (which will be returned) -and-
- You are traveling to a country where your current, valid passport will not be accepted due to Visas or entry stamps -or--
- You need to travel during a period of time when your passport will be at a foreign consulate getting a visa
