Burkina Faso is a West African country that spans 105,900 square miles. As a landlocked country, it borders Mali, Niger, Benin, Togo, Ghana, and the Ivory Coast. The United Nations estimates Burkina Faso’s population to be 20,321,378. French is the official language for both government and business, though almost 40% of the country’s inhabitants speak the Mossi language. The capital of Burkina Faso is Ouagadougou and citizens are known as Burkinabé. The country’s motto is “Unity–Progress–Justice.” Burkina Faso is a member of the Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa (OHADA), the World Trade Organization, the United Nations, World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund.
