China, also known as the People’s Republic of China (PRC), is located in East Asia, boasting the world’s largest population topping 1.428 billion in 2017. The country itself is quite large, spanning roughly 3,700,000 square miles. The Communist Party of China governs China and its 22 provinces, four municipalities, five autonomous regions, and two special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau. China has one of the fastest-growing economies in the world and consistently achieves annual growth rates above 6 percent. The country is the second-largest importer of goods and dominates as the top exporter of goods. China’s army, the People’s Liberation Army, is the world’s largest standing army.
