    Canada Travel Restrictions Update

If you plan on traveling to Canada in 2021, there are some Canada covid travel restrictions that you’ll want to be aware of. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Canada placed limitations on who could travel into the country and what rules people need to follow on arrival. Though some of these limitations have loosened up since they were put into place, there are still some rules and restrictions that travelers need to keep in mind when visiting Canada. With that said, here are some of the most recent travel restriction updates for Canada:

How the New Variant is Affecting Canada Travel

Canada has some rules that you will need to follow if you plan on visiting the country due to the coronavirus pandemic and the new variants of the virus. If you plan on traveling to Canada in the near future, you will need to provide proof of vaccination, with your final dose of the vaccine being received at least 14 days before entering Canada.

You will also be required to provide proof of a negative covid test. If you arrive in Canada and start to show signs of covid symptoms, you will need to self-isolate and provide a quarantine plan (1).

    The Latest on Lifting Restrictions

Canada decided to open its borders back up to vaccinated Americans for non-essential travel on August 9, 2021. Though vaccinated Americans are allowed back into the country, there will be some rules and restrictions that visitors must follow.

Whether you plan to travel to Canada by land or by air travel, those looking to visit will need to provide a negative coronavirus test and proof of vaccination. One important thing to note is that you must have received your last dose of the covid vaccine at least 14 days before entering Canada (1).

What to Expect While Restrictions Are Being Lifted

Taking a trip to Canada right now is going to look a little different than it did pre-pandemic. Wait times to get into the country are going to be longer than usual. This is due to the increased health criteria currently in place (1).

Another thing that you can expect is passport processing times to take longer than normal. If you need to obtain a passport before going on your trip to Canada, you should begin the application process as soon as possible to avoid missing your trip.

The Soonest You Can Start Looking at Travel Dates For Canada

If you’re looking to book a trip to Canada, you can do so right away if you’ve been fully vaccinated for at least 14 days and can provide proof of a negative covid test. Starting August 9, 2021, fully vaccinated Americans can now travel to Canada as long as they follow the new rules and restrictions that are in place.
